Steps
- Cream shortening and 1 cup sugar. Beat in the egg, molasses, mil and vanilla.
- Combine dry ingredients and gradually add to creamed mixture.
- Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour.
- Roll into 1 ¼ inch balls, then roll into remaining sugar. Place 2 inches apart on greased baking sheet.
- Bake at 350°F for 10-14 minutes or until tops crack and edges are slightly firm.
- Remove to wire rack to cool.

- 0.25 c molasses
- 2 T milk
- 1 t vanilla
- 2.5 cup flour
- 1.5 t baking soda
- 1 t cinnamon
- 0.75 t salt
- 0.75 t nutmeg
