Deep Dish Pizza

Steps

  1. In mixing bowl, add water heated to 120-130°F. Mix in yeast and stir until completely integrated.
  2. Add 1.5 oz vegetable oil, sugar, and salt and stir. Add 1.25 c of flour and mix with your hands forming a ball. Kneed dough on floured surface (use about 3/4 c total) until it is no longer tacky, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Place dough on a plate and cover in plastic wrap. Let sit out for about 30 minutes.
  4. In a 9 inch pizza pan, add 1 oz vegetable oil and coat bottom of pan.
  5. Place dough in center of pan and with your fingers work the dough out to cover the bottom of the pan.
  6. Then with your thumbs on the outside of the pan, pinch the dough up on the sides of the pan about 1 to 1.5 inches.
  7. You are now ready to add your own ingredients!

Notes

  • For one 9-inch Deep Dish (serves 2)
  • Double the Pizza Dough recipe and use a 14-inch pan for a 4 serving pie.

Ingredients

  • 2 c all purpose flour, for dough
  • 0.5 c water, for dough
  • 2.5 oz vegetable oil (corn oil is best), for dough
  • 1 t fast acting yeast, for dough
  • 0.5 t sugar, for dough
  • 0.5 t salt, for dough
  • 6-8 oz sliced mozzarella cheese (4-6 slices)
  • 1 oz grated Parmesan cheese
  • 6 oz pizza sauce
  • 1.5 c sliced vegetables (use what you like)
  • 24 slices pepperoni
  • 6 oz raw sausage
